Clinical Laboratory

Patient- Centered, Quality-Assured

Service-Based, and Science-Directed.

Overview

Clinical Laboratory of Peking University People’s Hospital (PKUPH) is a comprehensive medical laboratory with the functions of clinical examination, education and scientific research, and renders a service of clinical  examination for the whole hospital. Clinical Laboratory provides data for the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and prediction of clinical diseases, accurately and efficiently. There are 94 members in the team, including 4 professors, 6 associate professors, and 22 members who have achieved doctor degreemaster degree.

Patient Care

Clinical Laboratory provides more than 300 items of examination, and examines more than 2.0 million specimens each year. In 2008, Clinical Laboratory of PKUPH adopted the ISO15189 medical laboratory accreditation, among the best medical labs in China. In 2010, Clinical Laboratory got the national key clinical specialty construction project. In 2015, Clinical Laboratory of PKUPH passed the review of College of American Pathologists(CAP), and has been accredited by CAP.

There are five professional divisions in the lab. Besides conventional examination items, each group develops featured items for clinic. Among the items, some are outstanding in China nowadays, including: cultivation, identification and antibiotic sensitivity analysis of different kinds of anaerobe and microaerophilic bacterium, examination of bleeding and thrombotic diseases, and genetic examination related to individualized treatment. Microorganism Group is awarded as national training center for monitoring bacterial resistance and “Sprout Plan” practice center by the Chinese government.
